The C Family: Hartwood Acres Family Photos

Two words: three boys - all five and under! 😲 And let me tell you - these three were some of the most well behaved kids I think I’ve ever photographed!

I had the pleasure of photographing this absolutely beautiful (and fun!) family just a few weeks ago at one of my favorite places - Hartwood Acres! Megan and Chris told me that they hadn’t had professional photos taken for eleven (or twelve?) years - since their wedding!! So of course, after we snagged a few of the whole family and the kids, we snagged a few updated portraits of Megan and Chris!

Thank you all for the honor of taking these photos! 💛

Lauren + John: Pittsburgh Wedding Photos

Lauren and John have been together for ELEVEN years. How amazing is that?! These two have a big group of friends and have attended countless weddings this year - when we went over to Lauren and John’s house for detail & final prep photos, I noticed that one side of their fridge was completely covered in save the dates - and that is NOT an exaggeration! There were even some spilling onto the front of their fridge - it was unbelievable!

It’s easy to see how these two have such a large group of supportive friends and family surrounding them - they are two of the easiest, most laid back people to be around! Their wedding fell on one of the first cool days in October, which made it really start to feel like fall! For their ceremony, Lauren and John had buckets of each of their favorite beers (IC Light and Miller Lite, respectively) for their guests to enjoy, and after the ceremony, their pup joined them for a few family photos. Lauren and John were total naturals in front of the camera and made my job EXTRA fun with all of their dips and twirls!

We finished off the night celebrating their marriage at the Columbian Room in Wexford! Congratulations on your marriage, Lauren and John! So thankful to have been a part of your day!

Natasha K: Fall McConnell's Mill Senior Photos

Natasha’s senior session took place on a crisp October morning, just when the leaves began changing at McConnell’s Mill. One of the BEST things about scheduling a session in the morning is the fact that there are so few people (usually!), which helped us SO much at such a popular location like McConnell’s Mill - we basically had the park to ourselves!

Natasha is graduating in 2019 from Montour High School and has such a fun and carefree personality! She brought a hat to her senior session, which really helped pull her fall look together (even though she rarely wears hats!). It goes to show that sometimes going a little outside of your normal comfort zone in terms of style can be a great idea! If you’re looking for some more ideas on how to up your senior outfit game, (or really, any photo shoot outfit game!) feel free to check out this article I wrote a little while back!

Natasha, thank you for the honor of taking these photos - you are going to do incredible things! 💛

Carly & Nick: White Barn Wedding Photos

I can’t lie to you - I’ve been looking forward to Carly and Nick’s wedding day ever since I first met them! You might remember Carly and Nick from their Christmas Historic Harmony engagement session last year (click here to see it!) - after that session, I knew their wedding was going to be all kinds of fun - and it most certainly was!

You might’ve seen a recent wedding trend where a best man or groomsman dresses up like a bride for a “fake” first look. Well… Carly and the groomsmen staged a fake first look for Nick, too! And he was COMPLETELY surprised! But don’t worry, Carly didn’t use her real dress - just one she found at a consignment shop! And in lieu of a bouquet, the “bride” carried a beer! 😂

So many other beautiful and unique details made Carly and Nick’s day one to remember! From Carly and her dad’s entrance to the ceremony via horse and carriage, to a “lit” reception entrance (you’ll see what I mean 😏), to a larger-than-lifesize cutout of their dog that they danced with for their first song, this beautiful day was certainly one to remember. And it was all the sweeter remembering mine and Nick’s own wedding day at the very same venue nearly three years ago!

Carly and Nick, you both are a JOY to know. I am so thankful to have been a part of your day! Congratulations on your beautiful marriage! 💛

It’s hard to believe that senior season is starting to slow down! I can hardly believe that November is already here - which means just about one month left of senior photos! But truly, fall is my favorite time of year for photos - I love the crisp air, the warm and earthy clothing color palettes, and the beautiful fall colors!

I have to say, though - Mahika might’ve had one of my favorite senior outfits of the entire year! Her red, black, and gold authentic Indian dress was the perfect choice against Hartwood’s neutral backdrop, and really gave the feeling of fall! I had her twirling her gorgeous skirt basically the entire time - and it was so worth it!

Mahika is involved in lots of extracurricular activities, including Speech and Debate, Future Business Leaders of America, Global Relations Club, SciGirls (a club she made that promotes science to girls), NHS, volunteer at Youth Seva (her local religious group) and Classical Indian Dancing (Kathak) for 12 years. And she’s totally not busy at all! 😉 But seriously - I admire this young woman for her dedication to excellence. It’s truly amazing!

Mahika, it was such an honor to take your senior photos - you are going to do amazing things! 💛

I had a blast hanging out with Kate and her dad for her Hartwood Acres senior session! Every fall, I inevitably become obsessed with the clothing color palettes and soft, earthy hues - and, of course, there was no difference with Kate’s session! So excited for this sweet lady’s bright feature. Congratulations on your senior year, Kate! You are going to do incredible things! 💛

Mellon Park is one of my favorite locations for photos - the light is always beautiful, and there’s a beautiful balance between architecture and natural scenery. It ended up being the perfect location for Brooklyn, who had the perfect outfits to match, and was a total natural in front of the camera! The only downside: I literally fell into a bush. I squatted down to take a photo - and just keeled over. Good thing Brooklyn was a good sport and laughed with me! ☺️ Thank you so much for the honor of taking your photos, Brooklyn! You are a rockstar, and I know you’re going to do incredible things!

Leah + Greg: McConnell's Mill Engagement Photos

Let me paint you a picture: I show up to a the parking lot at McConnell’s Mill, and I see a car parked in the corner of the parking lot (mind you, I’m 20 minutes early to the session!). I see Leah and Greg step out of their car, and, as we walk closer to each other, I notice a gift bag and a cookie tin in Leah’s arms. And friends, this was no ordinary cookie tin - it was a cookie tin decorated to look like a llama - my favorite animal! Cue the tears. No - I’m not kidding. I literally teared up. Are you ever having one of those weeks, and then, out of nowhere, someone surprises you with some sort of kindness that you never EVER expected? That’s exactly what happened!

Inside that llama cookie tin were heaping piles of the most delicious chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever eaten in my LIFE. You might be thinking, oh, she’s exaggerating for the affect! Let me reassure you that I most certainly am not. I literally ate two during the shoot! 😍

But really, the tin, cookies, and llama water bottle (😭) are just the beginning with these two! I felt like I had known these two for years by the end of their engagement session. The kindness in their hearts was so evident, and really, I couldn’t be more excited to be working with these two to document their wedding day! (Also - Leah’s a Disney fanatic, so we get along just fine! 😉)

Leah and Greg, I am so thankful to know you two, and so thankful you chose me to capture this beautiful time in your lives! Thank you for the incredible honor! 💛

Bainer S: Hartwood Acres Senior Photos

There are a couple of reasons I will never forget the day we took Bainer’s senior photos. Okay, maybe just one: PRINCESSES!

That’s probably not the first word you thought of when you saw the photo above this little caption, right? Well, believe it or not, the day of Bainer’s senior session at Hartwood Acres, there were TONS of people gathered at the Hartwood mansion for a photography workshop - and the subjects were little girls dressed up as princesses!

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were close to 100 people there, because they took almost every nook and cranny of the mansion up! And I do not mean that at ALL in a spiteful way - it looked like a great workshop! I just couldn’t get over the irony of this workshop happening on Bainer’s session day. But he was such a trooper, princesses and all!

As you might be able to tell, Bainer plays the guitar and loves music. Besides bringing his guitar to his session, he also brought his dog, “Fozzie,” who I kept calling “Fonzie” throughout the session 🙈

Congratulations on your last year, Bainer! It was such an honor to take these photos for you!
